Prime Minister hears evidence from small business panel ahead of Pre-Budget Report

The FPB attended a forum with the Prime Minister, the Rt Hon Gordon Brown, to drive home the struggle faced by small businesses in the economic downturn. During the meeting, the FPB called on the Government to ensure that blue-chip companies pay their smaller suppliers promptly, and for banks to protect entrepreneurs by resisting securing loans on personal assets until all business asset security options have been exhausted. more >>

The FPB is calling for better lending, a reduction in regulation and a series of tax reforms in order to help small firms survive what many fear will become a long and deep recession in 2009. The FPB has submitted its proposals ahead of the Government's Pre-Budget Report on Monday, 24 November.
